Since joining the “Universities Scheme” in 2006, the Lodge has had a very vibrant student and postgraduate membership. But this is not limited to those with an academic interest. In keeping with the spirit of Freemasonry, the stimulating diversity of our Lodge includes members from a wide variety of jobs, religions, ages, countries and cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
The Lodge meets five times each year in Manchester Hall on Bridge Street in the Centre of Manchester. The meetings are held on a Thursday (usually the third) in the months of October, November, February, March and May; with Practice meetings in the preceding week, for the Lodge Officers and any other member who wishes to attend. At our meetings, as well as the routine matters such as minutes, motions, news, etc. we hold ceremonies admitting new members. Being a lively University Lodge; it is not uncommon for our ceremonies to include a number of candidates to accommodate the number of applications. Meetings often start about 6pm and close at about 8pm. The Dress code is dark morning suit with black tie.
Our festive board after the meeting is an exceptional, most enjoyable and very sociable dining experience. We hold our festive boards at Manchester Hall. The dining fee for the three or four course meal is generally around £25. There is a charitable collection at the festive board, the benefits of which go to the Lodge’s Charity fund, supporting the local charities. The festive board is concluded with the Tyler’s toast, generally by 10 pm; but, if you wish to enjoy a drink or two with your friends; the bar is usually open until 11pm.
Manchester Hall does not have a car parking facility for the Brethren. However, if you are driving; there are local car parks at which you can park for a reasonable fee.
We frequently have visitors from other Lodges who join our meetings and festive boards. If you are a Freemason and wish to visit
